"NuDisco"

"A new musical scene emerge... Called indifferently Neo-Disco, Cosmic Disco, or Space Disco, a new style is raising from clubs in New York, London, Paris, LA or Tokyo. Far from the somehow dusty sound of the 70's, the NuDisco scene reinvest the disco imagery, somewhere between abstract, electronic, and dance music...more "djable" as some of the bproducers say. Giorgio Moroder is not so far.

Discover the NuDisco extended family. On top of new and original "NuDisco" productions, the scene integrates the many processes of Re-Editing. The idea behind the Re-Edit is to take an obscure and forgotten track (Disco, Funk, Psychedelic Rock, Early Electro) and reshape it, rearrange it, play with it, in other words: rebuild it entierly to make it sound like 2008.

The ArtPack met five DJs/Producers from around the world, five emblematic figures from this new musical trend: Cosmo Vitelli, Mock & Toof, Aeroplane, Marco Dos Santos, Runaway..."

I Guess He Was Right

So the other day, I was sitting in my car after getting home late and I couldn't stop listening to this song cause it was so sad and pretty and perfect for late night drives home. The funny thing is, I actually wondered if it was true that it could snow in April. Low and behold, I wake up today FA-REEZING and hear that for the first time since like, 1972, it's snowing today in New York. This goes out to you guys.

WMC Wrap It Up.

Not much to say except it was relatively a bore. A lot of DJ's playing the same exact songs, the return of ravers (candy or otherwise), the thin line between the horrible house I hate that Tiesto plays and the generic sound that is all too common right now that not only sounds like womp womp, but in 2 years, will make me think of the trumpet sound in old 40's comedy movies, when things just didn't work out.

The upside to it all was that I got to see some people I don't get to see too often and had a nice time with them, even got to know some people a bit more. It was also nice to see some people incorporating an art show into a music event, and even more so one that I actually like. It was also nice to see some people take initiative, show some spontaneity and bum rush events, perform one song, and confuse the hell out of alot of people, as those crazy German friends of mine, Klaus & Ulrich, did. No one was really ready for that to happen.

Anyway, here's a parting gift, laughs courtesy of our friend DJ Huggs who, after getting back to the house around 9am, found the door locked so he decided to get cozy with our friends, the staircase. outside. In the sun. outside. Until about 1pm. mmmm. sweet staircase.

TORRTUREEE 1985 video edition

yo when i was little i had 2 favorite music videos.. ahem make that 5 but since we're not talking about the same family here i'll skip out on the latter. One was the thriller video, and the other was jackson 5- torture. When i was younger just like every kid from around this time i was heavy into horror and he-man (heavy pause) so this video with its sort of lame sci-fi effects (man spiders, aliens and weird dancing chics in tights) and whatnot. as a mater of fact i changed my mind i'll post all 4 videos haha but jus one mp3 rip.
numbah wong- micheal jacksons- thriller
numbah choo- the jacksons- torture
numbah tree- herbie hancock- rockit
numbah foh- art of noise- close
numbah fivre- dire straights- money for nothing

this goes in favorite order by video, not by track. if it was by favorite track id have to re-arrange the order.

the jacksons- torture- @320 slight crackle ha

ROLL IT RIDE IT SHAKE IT

Buffy the Body
who what when where how and why? who the hell knows, i really don't have much to say about this track. All i do know is, they took the classic sample from "theme from the together brothers" which is used in almost every MC and Miami bass djs crate it also contains a few samples from luke and the 2 live crew. This track is taken from one of the first few Dj godfather 12"s, this was actually a double 12" made with Big Daddy Rick on the databass label in 1997. So if you're a fan of Booty music, although its not a miami bass artist its definately well inspired by. so here you go, (some slight crackling goin on here).

OSE the begining

WOW today i woke up feeling mad groggy. Maybe it was the mac n cheese, chicken n cheese w broccoli n cheese tuna melt dinner i had last night... maybe. I've been lying in my bed for about 2 1/2 hours already thinking about what i need to do today. which mounts to basically nothing. thanks to all my friends for your support.
anyway
while i was digging in the crates (mp3s) i came across this gem, i used to sell this record (or trade) anywhere from $70-100 during 1996-97' (when contra swore there was no internet) to German cats via a electro forum. ( i remember once i traded it for Antacid- jedi knights remix 12"). I being lucky enough to live in Miami came across this (and many other miami gems) on a regular basis up until recently (still managed to keep a few copies for myself). OSE-computer funk written by none other than PB floyd and McCauley (dxj) on Bound Sound records 1983, there are also releases of this on treasure records along with a missprinted label version (i forgot what artist was on the other side... its not ose). This tracks the jam, if you're into that oldschool boogie electro.

why share this? i dont know..maybe because i like to contribute some hard to find stuff on here.. besides, its not like im sharing both tracks haha. (they're almost the same)
