I haven't watched this documentary nearly enough this year. The above clip pretty much summed up my general attitude towards the notion of not participating in, but merely observing, competitive sports for a dominant portion of my life.

PART 8: CHRIS GRAHAM

Part 8 of the series I've just started, focuses on local Ras Trent look-alike, Chris Graham.

He's got a write-up/Q&A over on the NBC Miami NiteSide blog(?). There really has been a bunch of rumblings about the new spot, most likely a direct result of Graham's involvement. Did anyone else get that mass e-mail, errr, press release(?), he sent out asking to have his write-up blogged/tweeted/paid attention to? I'm looking forward to that beer you now owe me, Chris. Your cander only reminds me that I too need to blatantly clamor for publicity and dissemination of said publicity -- have you read your New Times today? Tell a friend. K'thx.

The spot takes over the old Blue space, which always struck me as one of the more awkward spaces for clubland to fill -- feels more like a long hallway than any space I'd like to hang out in for much longer than a beer. Judging from the pictures it looks like they're going for the kitsch -- but who doesn't like conversation-starters?

That's about all I've got on this place as I haven't even been there. Chris is a great (read: swell) guy that makes amazing chicken wings. Plus, he will buy you your first beer if you mention that you saw this review(?!) on the blog.

*EDIT: After reading a bit into the recent past of this NBC NiteTalk series, they really cover a bunch of the family in there. Credit to John Hood (who has more bylines than Jesus) for shining some light on these guys n gals --- even Javi(PS14/Bar) gets love! So Santi's got a make-up show after a very unfortunate incident at Wesleyan University cancelled a previous gig as their campus was on lockdown with the shooter still on the loose.

"A 20 year old Wesleyan college student was shot and killed at the Middletown, CT bookstore she worked at yesterday, prompting the cancellation of the school’s Spring Fling concert that was to be headlined by Santigold.

Johanna Justin-Jinich, from Fort Collins, CO, was killed inside Broad Street Books, officials said. Police were searching for a suspect last night, but would not confirm reports that an ex-boyfriend of the victim was suspected. The Wesleyan junior was gunned down by a shooter wearing a wig. The liberal arts college was on lockdown for several hours after the murder and canceled yesterday’s Spring Fling concert, which was also to include King Khan and The Shrines and Clipse."

Originally slated to be published in their Winter Music Conference issue, the Miami New Times has gone ahead and printed their interview/Q&A with me that I posted (unedited) a while back. If you live in Miami, pick up a copy or read it online. They must've been slow on substance this week, cuz the article is a full-pager, and that's usually reserved for the talented.

While on the New Times site (it's gotten way better lately - congrats), I found out about Gen Art closing shop. Aside from all of the wonderful things I'm sure they focused on, of their events that I've been to, they were always attended by attractive AND intelligent girls --- a three-legged unicorn-like rarity in Miami.

What do you get when you throw a concert with 'punkish' rockers trying to draw in the younger 'hipster' crowd on the outdoor patio("Cabana Green") of a multi-million-dollar resort/spa complex in one of the most affluent areas of Miami-Dade organized by well-meaning people that may not have the strongest grasp on the pulse of the targeted demographic?

Schmoove.

If your keen eye notices, you'll see that I was playing with musicians.

"Wait, what?! Contra, you trying to be on some DJ Spooky/Kid Koala shit?! The fuck?!?!"

Well, no concerned citizen. In fact, that idea was brained up by someone within the Bal Harbour Village Cultural Series development department and impressed upon me within, lets just say for arguments sake, a week of the event.

"Sure," I say, "of course I've worked with musicians before.... Have I worked with these musicians before? No. In fact, I haven't even met them."

Management hits up some connects at the UM School of Music, and presto-change-o, I'm now going to perform w/ 4 musicians (trombone, trumpet, cello, and electric violin[think Revenge of The Nerds closing concert scene, minus fireworks and impressed crowd]).

Let me just set the stage for you. So again, I'm at a gazillion-$ resort. The headliners for this event, which is expecting up to 600 people (including the Mayor, 75 yrs old, I was specifically told), is a group I'm completely unfamiliar with, but reservedly hoping has a crazy following that I'm oblivious to.

It's about 7pm, and the opening act, one Matthew Ian (all black clothes, fedora with the brim set low, a few pieces of jewelry, and probably some worn-in cowboy boots), is strumming and singing on his guitar about heartbreak and sorrow. Currently, there are about 20 people sitting in their lawn chairs; mostly grandmothers with their grandchildren playing in the grass. Then, before this story gets too long, the highlight of the night happens.....

*pause for suspense*

Mr. Ian, takes a second after finishing one of his songs to pick up a book laying beside him.

"First off," I think to myself, "if this guy is going to start reading a book right now, I'm going to lose my shit!"

You gotta understand, I'm already giddy(?!) from trying to take in the absolute awkwardness we are all feeling knowing that we are going to have to perform in front of the fine ladies from the Bal Harbour Bridge Society; and on top of that I haven't even met this group of musicians I'm supposed to 'jam' with while hitting all of the requests made to me hours earlier (including Elton John's Tiny Dancer) because of someone's masterful imagination of how wonderful it will be.

Where was I? Oh, ok, so Mr. Ian pulls out the book as I lean towards a friend and whisper, "I will love it if this guy starts reading some Bukowski or Frost."

Low and behold, he reads aloud the poem below:

A-Ma-Zing!!

Bukowski?! One-point for me on the guess. Poem about a guy de-nutting himself?!!? Ten-points to all of the children old enough to understand what he was saying. Balls on this guy for reading that poem in the early evening sunset?!? Hundred-points for all the over 70-yr-olds who had the picture in their head of a man walking around with bloody towels between his legs and his own testicles in his hand!!

Oh how I wish I had a camera for all of the gaping mouths and stunned children. Awesome! Kudos to you fine sir.

Everything after that point pretty much sucked. He got back on his guitar and played a few more songs, then ANR went on, then I went on for a 30 minute set that got extended to ~45-60 then blah, blah, decrescendo.

Things I Realized About Freeballing With Musicians:

1) Homework.

You should really prepare something, or not even bother. Get all your songs in order, and find some ultra-tight in-key progressive manner in tying them all in together while allowing(or making) space and extendo-bridges for the musicians to jump in. Some half-cocked idea brought up in a meeting should not have come to light within the span of a couple days.

2) Let it ride.

You've got to let songs ride almost to the end for the musicians to get into any sort of a groove. I had a rough idea of what I should/could play for what I had imagined the event to be, and basically threw the idea of sticking to any sort of setlist out the window two songs in. There's no quick-mixing allowed with 'jamming' musicians, unless you've really spent time getting all your key signatures/progressions in some sort of comprehensive fashion.

3) Instrumentals.

The less lyrics, the better. The less prominent instruments in the song, the better.

The trouble with both of these rules was that of the brief instruction/requests given to me prior to getting on stage was to play lots of stuff people know(aforementioned Elton John etc). But when you're playing a familiar song with lyrics and perhaps even a guitar solo in a rock song (*gasp*), where the hell do the musicians go? Solo on top of the solo? Solo on top of the lyrics? Hey trombone, go ahead and just freestyle over top of Fred Wesley's part.

ugh.

um, yeah, so that happened.

Back in 2008 the movie Tropic Thunder used it briefly, and it reminded me of how awesome the song is and totally fits into the correctly identified genre of "Parent Radio" as Devlin noted in the post. "I can't get no sound in the headphones". Look, next time, stay home and figure out how a MOTHERFUCKING DJ mixer works. Turntables plug into the PHONO jacks. They have a different IMPEDANCE than line levels. You'll actually get a signal and I won't have to get off of my ass and bring an extra turntable from my set up because you think one is acting 'sticky'. Jesus, you can't DJ your way out of an HIV positive cat's ass. STAY HOME AND PRACTICE. Also, to the guys in the parking lot, that was the best fight I've seen, EVER!!! seriously, it made me sick to my stomach. Foot stomp to the face? check. Somewhat along these lines, I just got home from djing at Klutch, where, contrary to a number of online reports, some of the Jersey Shore cast showed up. Pauly D, The Situation and the Other Guy Who Isn't The Buff One [sadly?! I am only a little familiar w/ the show], all rocked out till closing time. As its 6am, I won't go into a rambling diatribe about the state of affairs when chants of "Fist Pump!" are answered by the trio and launch the crowd into such a ridiculous frenzy that people didn't give a second thought to spraying their $1500 bottles of Veuve Clicquot all over the club, crowd and my computer...

Eh, I'm tired.

Speaking of being tired, I partly blame the cool event that Sweat Records put together earlier today that I had the pleasure to play [to shoppers and a 'captive' crowd of ~12 people sitting down on the couches staring -- I haven't done an in-store in a little over a year now, and I don't miss the relative awkwardness at all], after LeSpam and just before ANR took the stage. I played a bunch of randomness including the criminally still unreleased Amanda Blank cover of PJ Harvey's "Driving" (Devlin looking smart in the YouTube), new LCD track "Home", and some other things that happened to catch my eye on the *gasp* laptop screen. *oof*...

Yeah that's right, I'm the dude who shows up to play at a record store's 5-year anniversary party which also happened to fall on Record Store Day 2010, looking for a Serato setup. I suppose that's good enough a point on said subject (the subject being me ,'sharp-as-a-razor', not the death of record stores.

Anyways, there's a 3-part Q&A series w/ Lolo on the Miami Herald's site.

Man, I dunno what the hell is going on right now. I was surfing through the YouTubes to find some clips of people dancing to DJ Chipman's "Kick Back", and then somehow ended up on this lonely guy's clip.

Then naturally I played the clip while also streaming the Chipman song below. Kinda difficult to time correctly, dancing guy starts a couple seconds early, but really it doesn't matter. Oh man, I need to go to sleep.

In case you haven't seen/heard it, here's the single off the ex-Dust Brothers' new album. Most all other blogs seem to be posting a radio rip off of Pete Tong's BBC program, but i've gone one step...to the east, and found a different rip of better quality -- in fact its play-outtable(?!) minus the last 10 seconds. Also up is an older track of theirs that you should add to your library if you don't have it already. Upon first listen, their new single reminded me of Juan Maclean's extended live version of Happy House (search the blog for that version somewhere here already uploaded; clocks in at over 21 minutes) mixed with Implog's Holland Tunnel Dive (I wish I hadn't traded that record away), both because of the sounds/format of the song, but also because if you're going to play this out - you've really got to commit to the whole 11 minutes of this thing.

Side note about Mr. Tong: In the Philippines he gave me one of his T-shirts which was designed by Christian Audigier. I completely forgot it in the green room that night, and regret not having it now. Is that important? No. But neither is keeping up w/ KFC's menu, but damn would I try the Double Down, and could use a nice shirt to wipe my fingers off after eating that damn delicious devil!

i remember in 1996 when i bought my first few records and wrote a letter to this guy.

He actually wrote back and sent along with his letter (which was pretty interesting), a mix tape (when people used tapes). This was around the time when he and (i think) Bass junkie started breakin' records. I became obssesed with the labels releases and could not help but buying the first 10 releases. This was at $10 a pop for an import, 10$ for 3 songs sheesh maybe 4 if you're lucky.

Depending on how much we get along, you get between one and two strikes when recommending a movie to me. I watch a lot of movies, so I am usually always interested in hearing about a good movie someone has recently seen. But, when you tell me to go see something, and it turns out shit, you've just been dropped off at the bottom of the Grand Canyon of credibility.

See the thing is, almost every night for the past year I will watch a movie before I go to bed. Now whatever movie it is that I am watching is this very important period will affect my sleep and overall world view the next morning. So, much like the 10 star scale, I've devised my own qualifications for a good/bad movie. Now, this scale changes completely when I actually go out to the movies; because, lets face it, if I'm spending ~$28+(can't forget about the nachos) to go see a movie with somebody, you're looking at lose/lose/homerun. The scale also changes when it's a recommendation from somebody that I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt -- usually first-time recommenders.

Great movie = Stayed up the entire film, and had to start another movie afterwards to get to sleep. Will wake up tomorrow thinking about it.

Good movie = Watched and enjoyed most of the movie, but fell asleep somewhere. Will watch the rest of it in the morning, or next bedtime.

Ok movie = Watched it inattentively while I was surfing the intertubes til I fell asleep. Won't bother watching it later to see what happens with that K9 cop.

Bad movie = Watched it til I turned the volume down to an incoherent rabble, rolled over, and went to bed.

Horrible movie = So bad, that rolling over to go to sleep won't help. I can't go to sleep while this piece of crap is still on. Have to stop it, and put something else on.

That could be you.

Now if you make a bad recommendation, and find yourself in the pit of despair, maybe sometime later you happen to bring up a movie we share favor towards. Well, when that happens, depending on the egregiousness of your last recommendation, I may offer you an air rescue out of the gorge of credibility whoredom, and grant you temporary clemency. If your later suggestion disappoints again, we can still be friends, but lets just not have you speak about movies ever again. K'thx.

Below are three movie recommendations by two friends of mine. But before you read that, just know that this new Repo Men movie with Jude Law, you can pass it. I'd suggest watching Repo Man and a dozen other films before that one. Just to insure you won't need to see it, he receives a blow to his head and is put on a life-support paradise contraption, but you find that out after you realize the last two hours were still a waste of your time. Its a juice-o-matic version of a dystopian world that fans of Vanilla Sky (the one w/ the Scientologist) would be familiar with and might even enjoy.

Recommendation: Shutter Island

Recommender: Jimmy from The Room

Now, I did watch the whole thing as I consider Jimmy a pretty bright guy, and figured his discerning taste in most things, would likely apply to film as well. Eh, no. Not a horrible film, no. But bad enough that the next recommendation will have a sour welcome.

Recommendation: The Happening & Jarhead

Recommender: Induce

They look as bored as I was. Sorry guys, I could leave the theater, this shit is your life's work.

You notice I've listed two movies. If you've seen one or the other, you'll understand why I now no longer take any recommendations, or for that matter any criticism/commentary, on films from Induce anymore. Garbage. I even saw these in the theater. The Happening I had to walk out of. I don't think nailing my feet to the floor could have kept me 5 minutes longer. "Oooh, the trees are blowing in the wind . . . *wind noises*."

Jarhead I sat through, as Induce had fervently presented his case to me that this was a masterpiece of filmmaking and cinematography; "The Full Metal Jacket of our generation. It's dope, you gotta see it!"

Hmm, maybe I did miss the angle they were going for: 'Steamy Shirtless Santa With A Gun' fans.

--Conversation after seeing it:

C: "Dude, really? I was not into the movie."

I: "Nah yo, that shit was ill. It totally captured how war is. You probably just wanted some shoot 'me up Rambo shit. Aw man, you just don't get it."

C: "No, I think I get it. Something along the lines of war being long arduous times of boredom set against brief moments of sheer terror/action. Except this movie just makes it about the boredom, with two guys walking around bored as shit, and I'm sitting there having spent $12 watching em."

I: "But that's the point!"

C: "Yeah, well writing with a pencil with as dull a point as that, all I would get is a smear of crap and shit on my hands. Next!"

And for those that might be put off by the naysaying movie reviews, the last movie I strongly recommended was The Hurt Locker. Get on my level.

That said, please feel free to recommend some good movies. Last one I watched was Slammin Salmon; done by the Broken Lizard guys (the ones responsible for Supertroopers and Beerfest -- that should give you some indication of what to expect.) Not worth your $, but worth a d/l.

EDIT: Knock Slammin Salmon down your list and go see How to Train Your Dragon. I'll go ahead and give that an 8.5 out of 10. Of course you've got to see it in 3D. Realize that it is a 'family' movie, but its got jokes (breastplate) and feels like you've been on a roller coaster.

I just woke up from a really disturbing dream. As I'm into reading/hearing other peoples dreams, will share this one while it's still fresh.

Basically a friend of mine (Mike Deuce, for anyone who knows him) asked me to kill him, and gives me a single-barrel shotgun. Somehow he convinces me to do it. Thing is, we're at a BBQ at his parent's house with probably 50-70 other ppl there(friends/family).

Somehow it's all good among them that he wants to die, and no one cares that we're now walking over to the fence to go through with the plan. One guy sitting at a picnic table from the side even exclaims that he's "excited to be a part of it".

Once we're at the wooden fence, my friend aggressively reaffirms to me that he's ready, and I begrudgingly, yet calmly, shoot him in the back of his head. Over my shoulder I hear the same sideline guy yell "Church!" as he starts clapping while enjoying his cigar. Some people are looking, but not staring, and no one is too involved.

I then calmly walk to the other side of the BBQ party still holding the shotgun and have to tell his Mom what I just did. She starts to cry because she had no idea that he wanted to go -- not really mad at me, but more at him for not telling her. Then my dad is also there, and he scolds me for shooting my friend - not angry for why i did it, just that i did it.

Explanations? Anyone? Bueller?
This has got to have something to do w/ the shooting last night.

Jumped to switch lights off, heard a car screech, and another volley. At first I thought it was a drive-by, but now news reports differently - which changes what i "didn't" see... nuff said.

A patrol car showed up super quick, probably less than 1-2 minutes after the shooting. Must've been right around the way and heard the 15-20 shots. By the time Fire Rescue showed up, the mortally wounded cat had succumbed.

Read the news report at the Miami Herald. [If the comment remains up there, 'Tourist' must live in the area, cuz the car seat is always parked there.]

If you squint your ears enough, you can hear Cee-Lo on this track making a timeless classic (he actually sounds like he's on the chorus -- peep the background echo on the chorus, esp. "...bottle of Shine"... Maybe part hallucination vs not believing Bubba or Timbaland can harmonize that well even w/ tuning). The chorus is so on-point that I had to look into the writer/producer credits of the track. Of course you got the Timbaland credit-whore(harsh?), but if you look at some of the other cats involved in this song, you're looking at a writer for the band Slave and Odyssey and then you got Larry Gold, who has had his hand in all sorts of jams from Salsoul disco days to playing on Karen Young's "Hot Shot"(!?!) to Justin's "Cry Me A River" and even The Roots' Things Fall Apart, namely on my favorite track off that LP, "Act Too (Love of My Life)" [a) I knew all that shit bout LG, or, b) Discogs/Wiki/Google visits help erryone, or c) it doesn't matter cuz now I'mma try to store it].

This ad for Amnesty International called Eye Tracking was recently installed on a bus stop in Hamburg, Germany - featuring a built-in camera and eye-tracking technology. When no-one is looking, the ad displays an image depicting a case of domestic violence. Once the camera detects an onlooker, it switches (after a delay), showing the same couple looking rather happy and normal.

The ad picked up the Cannes Lions 2009 Outdoor Silver Award and seems to make use of technology similar to that built into many digital cameras for blink and smile detection.

This is a brilliant use of technology that dramatically intensifies the ad’s already powerful message. I hope we see more interactive ads like this in the future.

Ever since The Juan Maclean played Dirty Hairy a while back, I've been on the hunt for a bootleg of their live version of "Happy House". With Liv's multi-million dollar lighting as the backdrop for their 20-minute rendition that swooped in and out of tempo, I was hooked. And yes, if I had it, I would play the whole 20-minutes; right after 20+ minutes of extended solo's in a version of Rare Earth's "Get Ready" I just dusted off in my vinyl collection for recording.

Anyways, with no leads on actual bootleg recordings of their shows (found a few quality LCD Soundsystem ones though), I found the video below, which does not sound or look anywhere as good as what the Liv experience had; even the extend-o-happy-house is different; anyways:

Then I went on a hunt of trying to find ways to rip streaming videos to no avail - as I found out that they're pretty good at playing "Hide the video from Contra" game.

I was able to get one of the 6 songs, but only because they didn't hide it. Sooooo, if you're up on this computerthing-thang and can 'hash-check their XML code' and find out the hidden link and get that to me, I'd be appreciative.

Electronics companies and consumers can help stop Congolese bloodshed

Have a cell phone or laptop computer? The conflict in eastern Congo, which has killed five times as many people as the war in Iraq, affects you. Fresh attacks last month caused 100,000 people to lose their homes, the latest in a war in which tens of thousands of women have been raped by violent armed groups.

We just returned from eastern Congo, where the demand for cheaper electronics is a key driver of this war. Our research has revealed that armed groups in eastern Congo earned approximately $185 million last year from trading in four minerals that form critical components in cell phones: the 3Ts of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold. The militias get rich and buy weapons by selling these minerals to smelting companies in East Asia, who then sell them to consumer electronics firms such as Apple and Nokia.

The human rights records of the armed groups speak for themselves. One militia, the FDLR, is led by the perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide. And the Congolese army recently absorbed another militia headed by Bosco Ntaganda, aka "The Terminator," a war criminal indicted by the International Criminal Court for conscripting child soldiers, including using 13-year-old girls as his personal bodyguards.

The answer to this problem isn't simple, but it is far from impossible. It requires a commitment by the Obama administration, electronics firms and the Congolese government to clean up supply chains and invest in good governance. These steps would cut off a key source of funding for the militias and make the conflict significantly easier to resolve.

But some corporate interests would have you believe otherwise. Metals trading companies have argued that cleaning up supply chains would impoverish miners in eastern Congo. We share their interest in the livelihoods of eastern Congolese people, but let's be clear on how we can actually help impoverished people in that region.

Miners in eastern Congo work in the worst conditions in the world. Ben, a 15-year old child miner, told us how he had worked in a mine since he was 10 and narrowly avoided a mine shaft collapse last year, a common occurrence in an area with no health or safety standards. Meanwhile, The Terminator's militia and other armed groups rack up the profits from the trade by controlling the mines or taxing the trading routes.

The central reason why these conditions are so horrific is the presence of the armed groups. Cutting off their resource base is the key to getting them off of miners' back.

We also need a plan to directly address the needs of miners. To that end, the Obama administration should partner with the Congolese government to enact reforms enabling miners to benefit from Congo's mineral wealth. These efforts must be complemented by investment in agriculture, a sustainable source of employment for ex-miners.

Added transparency and improved regulation would help provide real employment to miners with companies with meaningful health and safety standards. To jump-start this process, the Enough Project has organized a conflict minerals pledge (www.raisehopeforcongo.org), which companies and consumers can sign to reform their supply chains and make their electronics verifiably conflict-free.

Combating the conflict minerals trade requires a comprehensive strategy involving electronics and metals companies, the U.S. and regional governments and consumers. It took over a decade for the blood diamonds campaign to help halt Sierra Leone's bloodshed. The Congolese people can't afford another decade of conflict fueled by our consumer demands.

This is a little tidbit of teddy bear Jemz I had laying around. Recorded during one of his stays in Miami, the music was done with original Ace Tone sounds I sampled into the MPC-2000, the bass line I played on the Fender Rhodes running though the Mutronix Mutator, and the synth part is an Arp Omni. For the bongo part during the hooks, we originally wanted to record them live so we went on a trek around town to every pawn shop looking, finding out they go for way to much money than we thought, so we ended up just using the sounds from the Roland 727 drum machine, which sounds just as amazing as if we had the ghost of Ray Baretto. Jemz kills it on sensitive "come-back-to-me-baby" vocals and me on doo-wop back up.

For as silly as the track sounds, it actually has a hint of genuine sensitivity that can be easily heard on further listen. For those who can't take the 6 minute epic love song masterpiece, there's a radio edit that's about half as long. ENJOY!

I've been watching alot of Wong Kar Wai movies lately and found out after watching almost all of them that he pretty much tells the same story over and over, yet even with this knowledge, I still find them all becoming special to me as I watch and subsequently keep them in my memory.

Obviously, In The Mood For Love and 2046 are favorites, but one that has recently stayed with me is Chungking Express. It just found a place in my heart and stays there, occasionally sending signals to my brain, making me remember certain beautiful scenes. I can't even begin to explain what the movie is about, and I wouldn't want to lessen any experience. Here are a couple pictures from one of my favorite scenes in the movie, not just for obvious reasons, but more because of the beauty of being in love.

On my recent trip to China, I spent a night in Hong Kong, unknowingly wandering to the site where the above scene was shot in Chung King Express. It is this HUGE escalator in the middle of the city that goes up the mountain, hundreds of feet. It felt like magic when I noticed where I was and I took the photo below. Hong Kong became quite romantic to me that night and I will always remember the 1 night I stayed.

I've spent the last three(?+) hours trying to track down digital versions of some of my choice records I'm too lazy to attempt to convert into mp3.

Getting up and sifting through the stacks (which are not just across the room but 'technically' in the other room -- eh, its complicated), finding a record, skipping through the tracks, and then sitting back down to search for a copy pretty-much hampers on the couching-time the usual surfing should require. So, *genius*, I just grabbed a stack, and low and behold, it's always when you're not looking for it that you jab your foot on a gem:

Of the many perks you get as a dj, one of the major ones is being able to share the stage (read: get free up-close seats) to some great acts.

Now, sometimes, usually with djs, something will get left behind either on purpose or not. DJ Funk is famous for giving out the cd's he played that night. Remember when he played PS14? Yeah, I haven't played a damn thing off those bootlegs.

So back when Holy Ghost! performed at Liv they happened to leave two cds when they left. Only one of the cds worked - [the other was too scratched and just shoots out when I try to load it up], and of that cd, I didn't recognize/have only one of the 5 songs.

I'm of no mindset that this is some sort of exclusive never-released thing-thang, so lemme know what this is so i can update the iD3 tags. BUT, if it is Blogger-gold, thats awesome and I apologize to HG! for releasing it on the world; but then again, only 5 people read this blog anymore, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Not much to say except it was relatively a bore. A lot of DJ's playing the same exact songs, the return of ravers (candy or otherwise), the thin line between the horrible house I hate that Tiesto plays and the generic sound that is all too common right now that not only sounds like womp womp, but in 2 years, will make me think of the trumpet sound in old 40's comedy movies, when things just didn't work out.

The upside to it all was that I got to see some people I don't get to see too often and had a nice time with them, even got to know some people a bit more. It was also nice to see some people incorporating an art show into a music event, and even more so one that I actually like. It was also nice to see some people take initiative, show some spontaneity and bum rush events, perform one song, and confuse the hell out of alot of people, as those crazy German friends of mine, Klaus & Ulrich, did. No one was really ready for that to happen.

Anyway, here's a parting gift, laughs courtesy of our friend DJ Huggs who, after getting back to the house around 9am, found the door locked so he decided to get cozy with our friends, the staircase. outside. In the sun. outside. Until about 1pm. mmmm. sweet staircase.

yo when i was little i had 2 favorite music videos.. ahem make that 5 but since we're not talking about the same family here i'll skip out on the latter. One was the thriller video, and the other was jackson 5- torture. felix & jarvis plus a fantasy. double super special post to welcome in the coming week. i just woke up and realized its almost 5 pm i think this has got to be the latest ive ever woken up not doing anything the night before. i hope th rest of the week does not follow up with days like this. im kind of loking forward to next week but i am also not really all that excited. hopefully fI dont really have anything to say about the mp3s im sharing here, aside that felix n jarvis are one of my favorite late 70s/ 80's era artists i decided to post both tracks as a follow up to danny and induces mixtape.
i hope you all enjoy at the expense of me not finding any parking next week.
